Saturday 26th October 1900 for 1930hrs
Join us for this commemorative dinner, in celebration of Nelson's famous victory.
This delicious four course dinner, will be served following past RORC Admiral and surgeon, Andrew McIrvine’s fascinating talk on Nelson’s Wounds and the Royal and loyal toasts!
After supper, the celebration will conclude with the passing of the Port.
Historically, the Port is passed to Port, i.e. to the left (to keep one’s sword arm free) and all the way round the table, to ensure it is shared fairly. “If” the decanter comes to a standstill during the round, it is considered bad form to demand it; rather one should ask “Do you know the Bishop of Norwich?” The story goes that Bishop Bathurst of Norwich, aged 93, developed a tendency to unwittingly stall the decanter’s journey by falling asleep at the table, becoming the go-to reference for slow Port rounds ever since!
