The roof terrace of Port 21 Restaurant at the Royal Malta Yacht Club provided a stunning setting for a very special occasion - the Royal Ocean Racing Club Centenary Drinks and Canapé Reception, held on Friday, 17th October.
In glorious Maltese sunshine overlooking Marsamxett Harbour, guests gathered to celebrate 100 years of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) and the enduring friendship between the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) and the RORC - a partnership that has helped shape the global offshore racing calendar.
During the reception, RMYC Commodore Mark Napier presented a commemorative plate to RORC Commodore Deb Fish, marking both the centenary milestone and the long, close bond between the two clubs. In her remarks, Deb Fish warmly thanked the RMYC for its partnership and hospitality, noting how the relationship between the clubs has flourished through shared traditions, mutual respect, and decades of collaboration - none more visible than in the Rolex Middle Sea Race, one of the world’s great 600-mile classics.
RORC CEO Jeremy Wilton also expressed his appreciation to the RMYC and to the many sailors and members present, paying tribute to the enduring strength of the community that unites both clubs.
The relaxed afternoon was attended by crews from a host of competing yachts, including Whisper, Avanti, Darkwood, Long Courrier, and Gery Trentesaux’s team, as well as RORC members and guests from around the world. With free-flowing drinks, delicious canapés, and Malta’s perfect autumn weather, the event captured the true spirit of camaraderie, competition, and celebration that defines offshore sailing at its very best.
